Sandra Hardee, MD, Medical Director of Occupational Health Services with Prisma Health, spoke on hearing loss in the workplace. What causes work-related hearing loss? How is it treated? Most importantly, how can workplace hearing loss be prevented?
“There is a large percentage of workers exposed to hazardous noise,” said Dr. Hardee. “Hazards include decibel levels harmful to human hearing and exposure to solvents and other chemicals as a part of work that damage hearing either quickly or over time.”
