Symptoms of pituitary tumors and how to treat them
Did you know that one of the most common symptoms of pituitary tumors is blurred vision? In this video, David Straus, MD, discussed the most common signs of pituitary tumors, how the condition develops and what treatments are available.
Pituitary tumors develop when cells within the pituitary gland experience unregulated growth. These tumors cause a wide range of symptoms based on two categories: symptoms caused by the mass of the tumor itself pressing on the areas of the brain that surround the pituitary gland, and symptoms caused by the dysfunction of the hormones within the pituitary gland.
Treatments include watchful waiting for the smallest tumors that are not causing symptoms and surgical removal of the tumor from around the gland for those that are.
