Town hall: Wellness, fitness and what it means to be your healthiest you
To kick off 2023, Prisma Health brought together some experts to answer commonly asked questions about mental health, fitness and overall health and well-being.
Included were John Manna, nurse practitioner in the Midlands, Tara Ross, registered dietitian nutritionist with HeartLife Upstate, Kelly Brier San Miguel, MD, obstetrician and gynecologist in the Upstate, and Frank Clark, MD, psychiatrist in the Upstate.
Questions on health and wellness that our team answered included:
- Does taking vitamin C prevent a cold?
- What is “clean eating”? Is it a fad diet or does it really help?
- Does menopause make it harder to lose weight?
- Is exercise good for mental health?
- Does sleeping in on the weekend help you “catch up” on sleep you lost during the week?
- Is a gluten-free diet healthier?Β
- What are the signs of post-partum depression?
- Does negative thinking or speaking impact your mental health?
- Does what you weigh show how healthy you are?
- Do you need to avoid eating fat to be healthy?
- And more
While making a New Year’s resolution can feel like turning over a new leaf, it’s hard to stick to those big changes all at once. With the information in our town hall video, you’ll feel better prepared to make lifestyle changes toward helping you be a healthier you.
